Anemometers

The KSU Wind Applications Center (or WAC if it makes sense in context) hosts an anemometer loan program with four 34-m towers, each with three anemometers, a wind vane and temperature and humidity sensors. The first one was installed in August 2009 just southeast of Colby, KS. A second will be installed in Riley County and a third on the state fair grounds in Hutchinson, both in spring 2010. Data from these towers is available here.

Description:

Anemometers are instruments that are used to measure the velocity of wind. Coupled with our wind turbine, our anemometer will allow us to measure and report wind speed at different locations. The figures shown below are taken from the anemometer data sheet.
